It's Fall Y'all!
It's that time! Well, almost. But for me, my favorite season of the year is fast approaching! It's fall y'all! So I know fall doesn't officially start for a few weeks, but I wanted to go ahead and get all ready so I can share some of my ideas and little tips that can hopefully help anyone who isn't sure how to decorate without their home looking like a big orange mess. And most of all how to make it look classy and not tacky or over done so your home can still feel like your home! I grew up in Virginia, where we had a very cold fall, so I'm super obsessed with making it feel as much like fall as I can even though we have warm weather!
So here we go! One of the biggest things I love is a neutral palette in my home. This makes it SO easy when I want to switch things up or add things in. Now I'm not opposed to color, it's just my personal preference to keep things light and white and warm with most of my color coming in with florals and greenery. When it comes to seasonal decor, there are certain colors associated with them. For fall, you think of yellows, oranges, reds, browns, and those types of colors. Those colors are totally fine if you like them year round, but for me that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to have to change EVERYTHING for every season or holiday. So instead, I decided to find or make things I could easily blend in with my current decor.
The main thing for me is subtlety. I decided to add in some small touches that definitely let you know it's fall without taking over the whole house. First and foremost, I found some pumpkins! Most of them are neutral colored, some burlap, tans and very soft yellows. And then I did incorporate a hint of orange here and there since my palette is so neutral it didn't throw anything off balance. And like I always have said before, If there are any pumpkins or decor pieces you want but aren't in love with the color, chalk-paint them! I did that with a few pumpkins and one of my signs! Remember to look for the potential of something instead of spending extra money to buy it that way already!
I also replaced some of my normal throw pillow covers with fall themed covers. This is a favorite thing of mine because you can find such cute ones for so cheap on Amazon!
Also, to spruce up some of my greenery and centerpieces, I added some pine cones. I love the look of pine cones and how fall/wintery they feel and they literally match everything!
Of course I also had to grab a couple of little signs that say some cute fall things on them, and will probably add more throughout the season because I can't resist!
Lastly, one of my biggest obsessions year round are my wax warmers. First let me say, don't go out and look for expensive scentsy brand because you can find just as good of warmers and wax cubes for so much cheaper. Each of my warmers (I have two) we're about $10. And the wax cubes are only $2 a pack! I found them all at Walmart. For me, any season wouldn't be complete without the scent to match. For some reason, the smell of fall is so comforting and warming! And these things send the scents all throughout our house! There are tons of scents to choose from. Pumpkin Spice, apple orchard, caramel apple, pumpkin marshmallow, warm apple pie! Mmmmmm just imagine the smells!
Now that I have all of this together, I'm ready to make some sweet fall memories! So bring on Fall! I hope this is able to help anyone who is unsure of where to start!
Until next time y'all!
