Merry Christmas!

It's here! Finally here! My absolute favorite time of the year is here! CHRISTMAS! I love the cheesy hallmark movies, Christmas PJ's, and just all the warm fuzzy memories that comes with it. But, of course y'all know one of my favorite parts is the decorating! When I make my home feel like Christmas, all those good times, memories, and feelings come rushing back to me. There's something about looking around and seeing signs of holiday cheer that just make you feel good. With that being said, I personally feel like most people find this season the hardest to decorate for. Let's be honest, most of the Christmas decorations you find for an affordable price are just tacky. So, I want to share with you some of the ways I've brought Christmas to life in my home not only without creating an overly tacky environment, but in a way that didn't make me broke!
First I wanna talk about the classic red and green. How the heck can we put this in our homes without creating utter chaos next to our year round decor? For me, the answer is neutrals year round! My homes palette is a very simple one. I like whites, blacks, tans, wood and metal elements, and THEN I add in my colors through accessories. I'm a fickle person. I like to always change things and replace this with that and add new knick-knacks here and there. Having a neutral color palette overall really helps with this. Because I have no real main color scheme, I could incorporate pops of red throughout my home without upsetting the overall vibe and tone!

Now let's talk decor! Here are some of my favorite ways to do things at an affordable cost, and also ways I stay away from tacky!
1. Throw pillow covers and throw blankets.
Hit up amazon and find seasonal pillow covers at a low cost! I added some pops of red, and you know I love some quote pillows!

Toss a red throw blanket on your couch or bed to give a nice pop of red!

2. DIY/ Re-purpose it!
One little fun project I did was make this little button garland for my tree. All I did was pick up some cheap twine and a pack of buttons and hot glued them on! I think it adds a sweet homemade feel and it took very little time to make!

I also had this little Christmas tree accessory from last year, but I didn't want the gold elements this year since I have a lot of galvanized metal, so I went to town with some chalk paint! One light coat later and it was perfect for this year. Don't throw away things just because they may not work! Think about ways they can be up-cycled first!

Lastly, I was tired of the old Tree Skirt. I wanted something fun and unique. I was thinking more along the lines of a tree collar (rustic bucket look), but the cheapest one I liked was from Target for $48! No way! So then we started to think that we could probably find a better way. And funny enough we found this large garden galvanized tub from Home Depot for only $15 and stuck our tree right inside!

3. Ornament knick-knacks and cheap accessories!
I hit up the dollar tree, Target dollar spot, and Walmart to find some really adorable ornaments that were able to double as shelf accessories and things I could kind of just place throughout the house. I was able to find dollar ornaments that were super cute and added a lot!

As far as tree ornaments go, I kept it super simple. Just a few red bulbs and star bells, white snowflakes ($9 12 pack on amazon), and a bunch of pine cones stuck throughout!

4. Signs!
I love cute signs! I was able to find them for as little as $3 (Target dollar spot). Also don't forget to check out hobby lobby because they are always having 50% off sales!

5. Florals/Greenery
We all know I love greenery! But this was the perfect time to stick pops of red berries and pine leave florals all over the place!

Here are some other random fun things that I've found!

I was super bummed about not having a good place to hang stockings. I wanted so badly to build a faux fireplace, but just couldn't figure out a perfect design I liked and location I liked it. So I opted for this adorable Stocking hanger I found at Kirklands for $25!

We also found this adorable sleigh bell for about $8 at Hobby Lobby!

Well that's pretty much it! I hope you find this helpful in some way! Merry Christmas and Happiest of Holidays everyone!

Until next time y'all!
